    Effective at noon on Sept. 11, 2018, campfires will once again be allowed throughout the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction.

    Although fire danger ratings have dropped in the region due to recent rainfall and cooler temperatures, the public is strongly encouraged to exercise caution with any outdoor burning or campfire use.

    IMPORTANT

    Nanaimo Lakes Campsites will officially Re-Open Friday Aug 17th, 2018. Nanaimo River Road will be open for campers and day access. We look forward to seeing you all.



    We would like to thank Wildfire Services, Timberwest personnel and all their contractors and agents who have worked tirelessly to contain the Nanaimo Lakes fire and allowed for us to reopen in such a timely manner. If you see a fire fighter - Thank him or her for the work that they do! Their efforts are much appreciated.

    Please be aware that there is an Air Quality Advisory in effect for our area.

    We ask you to monitor conditions based on your circumstances. People with pre-existing health conditions, the elderly, infants, children and sensitive individuals are more likely to experience health effects from smoke exposure.

    Evacuation Order Downgraded and Alert Rescinded for Nanaimo Lakes Wildfire

    The evacuation order for Nanaimo Lakes has been lifted and replaced by an alert.
    With the cooler temperatures and progress made by firefighters, we are hoping the re-open the Nanaimo Lakes campsites by Friday August 17th, 2018.

    IMPORTANT

    The evacuation order issued by the Regional District of Nanaimo on Monday August 6th @ 7.45pm for the area west of the Nanaimo Lakes Fire remains in place. Nanaimo River Road is closed at the South Forks Road intersection. We ask that people stay out of the area.

    As a precautionary measure, Nanaimo Lakes Campsites are temporarily closed, due to a wildfire in the area. Please check our website often. We will update as soon as new information becomes available. We anticipate that the campsites will be open by the weekend, if not earlier.

    3 day booking window

    We are excited to announce that we have shortened our 7 days in advance booking window to 3 days.Thanks to our more accessible reservation system you can now reserve sites only 3 days in advance. This means on Tuesdays you can still make a reservation for the following Friday. This change affects Nanaimo Lakes campsites Old Mill, Riverside and Windy Point.

    COASTAL FIRE BAN IN EFFECT

    Effective at noon on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, all open burning (including campfires and Category 3 fires) will be prohibited within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, with the exception of Haida Gwaii and the area known as the fog zone.

    ​Booked campsites will be held for check-in until 3.00 pm the following day of the scheduled check-in date, after which the booking will be deemed cancelled upon no-show and the campsite is entitled to release the booked sites(s) for the remaining stay dates to other guests. No refunds will be provided for the cancelled booking.

Nanaimo Lakes area is private land and a working forest. Please stay in designated areas. Accessing areas behind gates is prohibited and hazardous.

All sites that are not reserved are first come first serve.
The Book Now page shows all current reservations, all other sites are first come first serve.
Reservations have to be made 3 days in advance.
You can have campfires in our designated firepits. Please check News and with your hosts for fireban updates.

  • Cutting your own firewood is not allowed. There are designated firewood cutting areas that are clearly marked and require a permit. Camphosts do not sell firewood permits.

  • Yes, we are a pet friendly campsite. Your pets MUST BE LEASHED at all times, in your campsite, on the beach and on all roads.
    Please clean up after your pets.
